HOW I BEGAN
I’m U-SA (like “You Sir!” which is funny because I always hear my name when someone is not even talking to me). My mum and Thai friends call me by my nickname APPLE. And you can too if you want.
I grew up in Isaan, North East Thailand, and from a young age food and cooking has been my passion. I learnt the art of traditional Thai cooking from two of the best chefs in the world – my mother and grandmother.
By using their techniques to balance complex flavours, I practised cooking for my friends and family to perfect the art of home-cooking.
I went on to complete a BA in Tourism and Hotel Management and working for 5* hotels such as Shangri-La, Hilton and Marriott in Bangkok.
When I moved to England in 2008, I continued to work for Marriott as a Food &Beverage host, enhancing my customer service skills and always working to a high standard. My passion for Thai cooking continued to grow.
I began teaching my new friends and neighbours whenever I had the chance. Then one day my neighbours, suggested I cook professionally. So, I did.
In 2010, with their help, I started RealThaiCooking classes. I’ll always be thankful to David and Eileen for inspiring and believing in me.
RealThaiCooking Kitchen During the pandemic, while I could no longer offer my cooking classes, I decided to open RealThaiCooking Kitchen. Cooking everything fresh gives me pleasure to make healthy Thai food catered to your taste. As passionate as I am about cooking, I’ve also worked hard towards my Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate and pride myself on maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene. Now I bring the traditional recipes I grew up with, to your home so you too can love and truly understand the real taste of Thailand.
